Healthy Eats Roti/Indian Bread

Indian Bread or Chappati or Roti as it may widely be called, is a common inclusion of Indian cuisine. It’s made from wholemeal wheat flour and hence it’s considered healthy in itself. But what here, I have come up is rather more of a healthier choice. I use half and half, flour and veggie to reduce the carb intake, but at the same time to feel the fullness in stomach. Having had this dish, with a choice of salad, really fills you with energy as well as freshness either to start a day or to end up a day.

Ingredients

Wheat flour ( Aatta). 1 cup

Carrot grated. 1 cup

Chopped parsley. 2 Tbsp

Garlic. 1 clove

Salt to taste

water just as required

In a food processor on the knead setting , blend the dry ingredients, ( wheat flour, salt). Add in grated carrots, chopped parsley, crushed garlic and pulse it slowly and add water little by little checking the consistency. Take the dough out, let it stay for ten minutes. Divide into small balls and roll over using a rolling pin to semi thick flatbreads. Cook on a tawa flipping both sides. Serve hot with salad.

Salad

Red pepper, spring onion, tomato and lemon, together with some onion and garlic, spiced up with ground black pepper and salt, makes really a good choice.

Tips

*The vegetable used can be of your own choice, like cabbage or a mix of veggies.

** Salad also could be customized.

*** Add more veggies to your meal like some bean and coconut as sides.
